Europe’s longest Belt Conveyor for French Cement Factory

Reducing the number of transfer points in long distance conveying results in lower energy requirements as well as in improved product quality due to lower particle attrition. Due to their patented technology a French supplier was able to install Europe’s longest belt conveyor with both flights running side by side, creating a very low construction height. The 6.2 km overland belt conveyor system went into operation at a cement factory in Montalieu, France.

For the expansion of Bhushan Steel’s steel plant at Meramandali, India, Larsen and Toubro carried out the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the raw material handling system that included 43 kilometres of belt conveyors, a wagon and truck unloading system, eight stacker/reclaimers and three bucket wheel reclaimers.

With the conversion of 16 arched plate conveyors, Aumund Fördertechnik contributed to the improvement of the operating procedures at the RWE power plant in Neurath, Germany. The conveyors with a length between 12 and 32 metres are used as coal feeders in the block units F and G. During peak times, the conveyors can transport 200 tons per hour since one pan conveyor loads one megawatt.
