Considerations about the Cost of Conveyor Belting – Discussing re-evaluated Belt Safety Factors

Safety Factors for Conveyor Belts
A new generation of conveyor belts and belt monitoring technology reduces conveyor belt capital and operating costs by using lower belt strengths than previously thought possible. Key factors are improvements in splice performance, energy efficient rubbers and real-time belt condition surveillance systems.

New Flyingbelt System combines Cable Way and Belt Conveyor

Sempertrans and Agudio have developed a completely new system for bulk transportation over long distances — the "Flyingbelt", a combination of ropeway and conveyor belt.
Belt Conveyor Technology
Sempertrans, part of Semperit Group, together with Aguido, a brand of the Italian ropeway manufacturer Leitner ropeways, developed a new system for bulk transportation over long distances — the 'Flyingbelt', a combination of ropeway and conveyor belt. The unique conveyor belt suspended on ropes connects a limestone mine in South Eastern Brazil with a cement plant owned by LafargeHolcim.

Pipe Conveying the next Stage

Pipe Conveyor Systems
A new conveyor design is set to help reduce conventional heavy-duty truck traffic and the resulting high operating costs in open pit mines. This article presents the design and the initial findings of the feasibility study on the Chevron-Megapipe conveyor for a 350 m-deep open pit mine and a mass flow of 5000 t/h.

Prevent Wear and Material Loss in Conveyor Systems

The PT Pro Belt Trainer belt centring system detects belt misalignment and, when the belt wanders, always guides it back into the correct position. This is achieved by means of the pivot and tilt movement.
Conveyor Belt Training
An important step in preventing material loss from conveyor systems is to correct the guidance of the conveyor belt. Flexco provides various belt centring systems for this purpose – for example the PT Pro Belt Trainer. This detects when the belt is not running true and corrects it. This is achieved by a special feature – when the belt wanders, the pivot and tilt movement always guides it back into the correct position. With this centring system, users therefore not only have significantly less material loss, they also reduce their maintenance costs.

Rema Tip Top acquired Australian Conveyor Maintenance Company

"We want to become the service provider number one for the Australian mining industry," says Thorsten Wach, CEO of Rema Tip Top.
Belt Conveyor Services
Rema Tip Top AG, a globally operating system provider of services and products in the field of conveying and treatment technology as well as in the automotive sector, has acquired a majority interest in the Australian company ConvaTech. Together, Rema Tip Top and ConvaTech will form one of the largest conveyor service organisations on the resource-rich continent, the company says.

Retractable Belt Cleaning System provides unique Service Access

Asgco’s new Razor-Back Retractable Belt Conveyor Cleaning System can be accessed and removed from outside of the chute, without breaking the plane of the conveyor.
Conveyor Belt Cleaning
Asgco’s new Razor-Back Retractable Belt Conveyor Cleaning System can be accessed and removed from outside of the chute, without breaking the plane of the conveyor. The Asgco engineering department has developed the technology after customer feedback and delivered “a product with all of the cleaning efficiency of our patented Razor-Back cleaners, now with unparalleled service access.” This innovative design greatly reduces downtime and eliminates the need for confined space permits.

Europe’s longest Belt Conveyor for French Cement Factory

Overland Belt Conveyor
Reducing the number of transfer points in long distance conveying results in lower energy requirements as well as in improved product quality due to lower particle attrition. Due to their patented technology a French supplier was able to install Europe’s longest belt conveyor with both flights running side by side, creating a very low construction height. The 6.2 km overland belt conveyor system went into operation at a cement factory in Montalieu, France.
